Changing the World , One Kid at a Time
GNG Canada provides group music lessons to at-risk youth from 8 to 18 years old, using exceptional teaching ratios – three volunteer instructors for every 10 participants. Kids who don’t already have guitars are assigned a guitar -- and those who continue for the full 8 weeks of the program are allowed to keep their guitars.
The GNG Canada Mission
Since 2007, kids in our programs across the GTA have been building self-reliance and self-esteem, having a blast – and graduating. Congratulations, all graduates. One neighbourhood at a time, one kid at a time.
The goal of GNG Canada is to help stop violence in schools and on the streets by providing a music program for at-risk teens. We want to divert children from the self-destructive behaviours of drugs, alcohol and crime. By providing children and teens with guitars and lessons, we hope to engage their creative potential and empower their dreams.
"Music can heal. It can do more than ease the pain. It can throw a lifeline to kids who can't be reached in any other way."
– Paul McCartney
